Communication Technology

Communication Technology

Twenty years ago who would have thought technology would be where it is today. Over two decades ago the main source of communication people were really using was face to face, or writing letters to each other. Now if I wanted to get ahold of someone I have many different ways that I could go about doing it. I can call but now a days who calls anyone anymore? I am more likely to send a text, tweet them, write on their wall, or even address them in a blog. The technology’s that have come about in the past twenty years has changes people lives for for better.
Let’s think about Facebook, it really all started with Myspace but no one ever really uses that anymore. I personally have been able to keep up with people I probably would of lost communication with years ago if it wasn’t for this amazing asset. Whether it be friends that have moved away or friends that I have been able to reconnect with. I have even heard of stories that men and women are reconnecting with their high school sweet hearts through Facebook 20 years later and getting married. If it wasn’t for this webpage these people may have never crossed paths again. It can also be an asset to your financial development. I personally have started my own business that has is very much Facebook based, I share pictures answer questions and meet new people.
Another great aspect of new communications is blogging, what better way to share your personal ideas with people all over then to be able to post them to something that is accessible to people all over the world. It has even gone as far as being able to make money from blogging.  The best part about this is being able to do this from the comfort of your own home. Maybe late at night when all your kids are asleep is the only real time you have to reflect upon your most personal thoughts and options on things. There is one down fall that I can think of is that blogging is free rein for anyone to write anything on their pages so when it comes to research and students that are getting information off these blogs you needs to make sure that they are coming from a reliable source before using the information that is provided.
Who wants to go to the mall around Christmas time and fight through hundreds of people to get the perfect gift? After searching you then have to wait in a line that takes more time to get through then it actually took to find the item you were searching for. Shopping online again gives you the ability to do so in the comfort of your home, office, car, and even work (if your boss allows). The deals that you get online may even beat the deals that you are getting in store. In fact many places for example Victoria Secret has products of their websites that they don’t even carry in store and if asked for they will direct you to go on their website. The only down side could be paying for shipping but there are plenty of deals you can find that allow you to avoid this all together.
The biggest proof of how communication has changed in the past twenty years is that pretty little smart phone you carry around with you every second of every day. What can’t you do with your smart phone? Besides all the social networking I listed before you can also keep a healthy diet, play all sorts of games, get help with your school work, and keep things organized as well as hundreds and hundreds of others. All you really have to do is search for a certain app in the app store and I’m sure you will have quite a bit of different options.
As you reflect back on twenty years of communication advances that have been make I can’t help but think about the future. What can we possibly have in even ten more years that we don’t already have now? On the other hand I don’t think if you asked someone back when if they thought we would have all we do now they would be able to tell you they believed that it would happen either. The communication world is ever changing and we as consumers have to keep up with these changes in order to receive the benefits.
